Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
Al Barakah School is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). We believe every child should be given the opportunity to thrive and reach their potential in an Islamic setting, with compassion and understanding at the heart of our approach.
We support students with a range of needs, including learning difficulties, behavioural concerns, emotional or social challenges, and physical disabilities. While we are not a specialist SEND school and are unable offer one-to-one provision, we do our utmost to make reasonable adjustments and offer targeted support where possible, within our resources. In such cases, we will arrange a meeting with the student and their parent(s) to agree on a clear plan and next steps moving forward.
We have a Behaviour and SEN Manager on-site who works closely with staff, students, and parents to address individual needs, develop strategies, and provide guidance. They can also help implement support plans when concerns are raised.
We are pleased to confirm that our premises are wheelchair accessible, allowing us to better accommodate students with mobility needs.
Supporting Mental Health & Wellbeing
We recognise that many young people today face challenges related to mental health and emotional wellbeing. In response to this growing need, Al Barakah runs workshops and activities throughout the year to support emotional development, resilience, and confidence-building.
We also host a Youth Club where students can engage in positive, age-appropriate activities outside the classroom. This provides a safe space for socialising, learning new skills, and discussing important topics in a supportive Islamic environment.
Working Together
We value open communication with parents and carers. The more we understand about your child’s individual needs, the better we can support their learning journey. If your child has any SEND and they have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), or if you have concerns about their progress, please email admissions@albarakah.co.uk.
Important: To help us assess suitability and prepare appropriate support, all known SEND or behavioural needs must be disclosed before registration. This includes sharing any relevant reports, EHCPs, or ongoing concerns. Full transparency from the start allows us to work in partnership with you and give your child the best chance of success at Al Barakah School.
We appreciate your trust in us and your partnership as we strive to nurture confident, well-rounded Muslim individuals.
